A Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is a brilliant option straight after your Graduation or even post a few years in the workforce. It fulfills the need to gain required knowledge and an industry foothold, as it’s a comprehensive two-year course that is as valuable as an MBA degree. 

When choosing the right PGDM course in India, however, it’s not always a good idea to jump into the closest one located to you or one that your friends have opted for!

Management techniques are constantly evolving. It is therefore vital for a business school to stay relevant with their curriculum and teaching techniques. Read through the oficial curriculum of each institute and notice if there are subjects related to Emerging technologies such as Business Analytics and AI.

Pricing and payment plans

Enquire directly to your selected universities and speak to their admissions teams about the total tuition, staying, etc costs and the available payment plans. Some colleges are more flexible than others.  

Relevant speciality areas 

Find a PGDM course in India from an institute that specialises in topic areas that you are interested in. Subjects can range from Financial Technology, Supply chain, Retail Management to Blockchain and Human Resources. The choices may be many, but enquire about their specific strengths and then see if these match with yours. 

Global and local accreditation 

Rankings are given to universities, not individual courses. So, if you wish to go abroad after your course, check for college accreditation from AMBA, NBA. EQUIS or AACSB. Locally, the NIRF rating or even one offered by reputable media houses such as Business Today and Outlook India are considered valuable.  

Future location 

Most PGDM courses are designed around the focus industries of that state. eg: If you wish to master Finance related subjects, look for a PGDM course in Mumbai due to its financial development and the BSE. Likewise, Bangalore is preferred by the technically-oriented. This also helps laster during the placement processes. 

Projects and Internships 

At the post graduate level it's time to go through experiential training. Select a college that has an impressive internship or live projects program, in collaboration with top companies and industry mentors. This will give you factual ideas about the field and motivate you. Some universities even include an international business-related trip.

Go directly to the placements info on the official university websites and check the list of recruiters and percentage of placements in the previous years.
